چکیده

The objective of this paper is to study the elastic seismic response simplified building models that include considerations vertical lateral force resisting system (walls) and horizontal (floor diaphragms) through parametric study. assumption rigid diaphragms often used in design buildings; however, research suggests diaphragm may influence fundamental period response. In paper, a model presented for single multi-story buildings utilizing two degrees freedom per story system, example, walls, one degree floor diaphragm. number stories, stiffness walls diaphragm(s), mass distribution between are varied represent large range potential compositions. Eigen analyses indicate wall interact when at similar periods resulting elongation overall period. Response time-history where it shown demands both diaphragm(s) dependent on relative mass-distribution these systems. companion “Wall-Diaphragm Interactions Seismic Building System II: Inelastic Design” extending nonlinear including different levels assumed inelasticity

Seismic Response of Building Structures with Sliding Non-structural Elements

Interaction between a structure under base excitation and heavy non-structural elements that it supports is significant in the seismic analysis and design of the structure. Heavy non-structural elements may slide/rock under base excitation, and this dynamic action affects the seismic behavior of the supporting structure. Hence, in this study, a numerical model was presented to describe the seis...

response articles: micro and macro analysis

the present study reports an analysis of response articles in four different disciplines in the social sciences, i.e., linguistics, english for specific purposes (esp), accounting, and psychology. the study has three phases: micro analysis, macro analysis, and e-mail interview. the results of the micro analysis indicate that a three-level linguistic pattern is used by the writers in order to cr...

The Effect of Tuned Mass Damper on Seismic Response of Building Frames with Uncertain Structural Characteristics

Tuned mass dampers (TMDs) could be used to absorb the input energy of the applied load, and reduce the response of the building frames. However, the effectiveness of TMD in reducing the response of the building frames could be affected by inherited uncertainties in the structural characteristics of the frames. In this study, in order to investigate the probabilistic response of steel moment-res...

Comparison of parametric and semi-parametric binary response models

A Bayesian semi-parametric estimation of the binary response model using Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithms is proposed. The performances of the parametric and semi-parametric models are presented. The mean squared errors, receiver operating characteristic curve, and the marginal effect are used as the model selection criteria. Simulated data and Monte Carlo experiments show that unless the bi...
